Zakat al-Fitr Reminder
What is Zakat al-Fitr?
Its a charity due before Eid al-Fitr. It purifies our fasts and ensures those in need can enjoy Eid too.
You can give:
- ~ 2.03 3.25 kg of staple food, or
- ~ $15 CAD per person (Hanafi opinion permits monetary payment)
Who must give it?
Every Muslim with enough to meet their needs man, woman, child, adult, even those not of sound mind.
What about children?
Yes, parents or guardians pay on behalf of their children. Older children who can afford it may pay it themselves.
When should it be paid?
From now until before the Eid prayer. The earlier, the better!
Lets make sure no one is left behind this Eid. May Allah accept from us all!
