This Ramadan, your Zakat can relieve families struggling with food insecurity, financial hardship, and personal crises. At MCC East Bay, your generosity supports life-changing programs for our neighbors in need:
- Food Assistance: More than 500 families rely on our food pantries, but the demand is overwhelming. A mother who arrived after work to find almost nothing left told us, I dont know how much more peanut butter and jelly my son can eat.
- Car Program: 150+ vehicles provided to struggling families. One mother shared, For the first time, I get my three kids to school on time and get to work on time. My boss is happy, and I dont spend four hours on the bus anymore. My life is changed.
- Rent & Utility Aid: 1,200+ families seek help to stay housed.
- Domestic Violence Support: Helping survivors with housing, career training, and financial aid. "I never thought I could do it. I was so afraid for so long. You helped me with a car, my certificate, and my rent, and now I am working and can pay my bills and take care of my kids. Thank you so much. I pray for MCC."
- Mental Health Services: Zakat-funded therapy for those in crisis.
Every Saturday, a sister hugs me and cries, saying, I could not make it every month without MCC support. She is a single working mom, but food stamps are simply not enough to feed her children.
