Weekly Newsletter September 12, 9th of Rabi Al-Awwal 1446

Assalamualaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu Masjid,

We are continuing with our theme of Rabi-ul-Awwal: learning from the most excellent character of our habib Prophet Mohammed (SAWS). One of the principles he practiced in his life and left as a model for us to follow were the principles of equity and justice. The Prophet (SAWS)'s life is filled with events and scenarios where he establishes these principles, whether it is treating people with equal respect whether they were from highest or lowest social strata; or announcing that men and women are equal in the sight of Allah, giving women the right to own property and making their own decisions, almost 500 years before the women in US could vote. The last sermon of the Prophet SAWS is filled with gems promoting the foundations of an egalatarian society, such as:

"All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a White has no superiority over a Black nor a Black has any superiority over a White except by piety and good action"

Following his footsteps, we recognize that all our divisions are a facade created by those with malicious intent. Let us not fall prey to this deception and stand up against inequity and injustice, wherever we see it.

May Allah grant restore justice in Palestine and bring peace to all the people, Ameen.
