YMTC 1st Annual Talent Show Important Information
AGE GROUPS:
Inshallah we will be dividing the contestants into three age groups: 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12.
CATEGORIES:
There will be three categories the contestant may choose from to enter into. It is fully up to the contestant which category to choose:
1. Verbal Talents.
Examples:
- Qur’an Recitation (with or without translation)
- Nasheed (voice only or with duff)
- Poetry Recitation (any language)
- Storytelling (short moral stories)
- Riddles or Jokes (clean, age-appropriate)
- Memorized (e.g. Names of Prophets, Islamic months)
2. Creative Talents: Participants should bring their own supplies and must create their art via a live demonstration within their 3 minute time slot. Pre-created artwork will not be accepted as a talent.
Examples:
- Drawing
- Painting
- Calligraphy
- Science demo
3. Physical Talents
- Juggling
- Yo-yo
- Rubik’s cube
- Sports tricks
- Karate
- Magic tricks (sleight of hand only)
- Skits
PROHIBITIONS:
- Music with instruments
- Dance routines
- Costumes of living beings (people, animals, superheroes)
- Pop culture themes (e.g. TV shows, video game characters)
- Inappropriate jokes, stories, or language
- Anything dangerous, overly messy, or requiring complex setup
- Use of fire, knives, or sharp tools during demonstrations
- Food presentation (Stay tuned! Inshallah we'll have a separate event for this in the future!)

Vocal Talents:
- Clarity & Volume
- Confidence
- Content Quality
Creative Talents:
- Effort & Neatness
- Originality
- Presentation
Physical Talents:
- Control & Accuracy
- Confidence
- Skill Displayed
AWARDS:
One 1st Place Winner per Age Group per Category, so 9 awards total
Verbal Talents – 1st Place per age group
Creative & Physical Talents – 1st Place per age group
Culinary Talents – 1st Place per age group
4-6 Age Group 1st Place award: $20
7-9 Age Group 1st Place award: $40
10-12 Age Group 1st Place award: $60
Awards will be announced/given during the Masjid Monthly Dinner!
SCHEDULE:
Since there are 30 entries per group, contestants will get 3 minutes to perform their talent in front of the judges and the audience.
The competition will begin at 4pm on August 23rd, and we will end right before the Monthly Dinner, which will be right after Maghrib at 8:30 that day, inshallah.

FINAL POINTS:
Please remember to be ON TIME. The contestants will need time to get ready. That means planning ahead for possible delays for traffic and weather.
