Why We’re Hiring an EVP at ICOI

Assalamu Alaikum ICOI Community:
As our programs have grown, so have the demands on leadership. Fundraisingthe most critical executive function of a nonprofithas struggled, depending too much on whether board members have the capacity to lead it. Meanwhile, the board has taken on more executive work than it should, which is not sustainable and distracts from long-term governance.
Hence, the board has voted to begin the process of interviewing and hiring an Executive Vice President (EVP). Yes, we are currently in a financially tight period, but the time has come for ICOI to have a dedicated full time leader who will prioritize strategic planning and fundraising efforts at ICOI.
We were already planning to add staff to meet growing needs. Instead of hiring multiple roles, we are reshuffling the structure to reflect our priorities and team strengthsbringing in one experienced leader to centralize oversight, lead fundraising, and ensure long-term consistency beyond board transitions.
With this change:

Br. Amin as the Executive Director will focus on internal operations (facilities, finance, systems).

Sr. Karima as the Senior Director will lead community programs and engagement.

The EVP will unify efforts, elevate strategy, and build sustainable funding.
This is not a move toward becoming a corporationits a commitment to serve you better, protect what weve built, and ensure a thriving future for ICOI.
