A quiet sanctuary for students in the chaos of college life.
Assalamualaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,
When parents send their children off to college, theres one dua that often sits on their tongue:
Ya Allah, protect their iman, and guide them on the right path.
Because sending a child off to college isnt easy.
Spending the last two decades planting seeds of faith shaping their Islamic identity instilling cultural values and steering them towards a bright future.
And then just like that, they are on their own.
No one to wake them up for Fajr.
No one to remind them to read the Quran.
No one to nudge them toward Allah when the world feels loud.
At this stage in life, those seeds either take root or get pulled out abruptly by the environment around them.
And thats why places like Nueces Mosque matter.
When students walk into Nueces
- They hear the Quran echoing after Maghrib.
- They smell the aroma of dishes from around the world from a student-hosted community dinner.
- They see friends reviewing flashcards for tomorrows exam.
In the middle of University of Austin, surrounded by distractions, they find a space where Islam isnt an afterthought. Its the heartbeat.
Because Nueces isnt just another masjid, its their home away from home.
And now, its time to rebuild it.
The yellow house on Nueces Street has served generations of students. But today, its literally cracking at the seams.
Alhamdulillah, weve raised $4.5 million.
But to break ground on construction, we still need $1.5 million more.
During these blessed days of Dhul Hijjah, lets build the kind of masjid we pray our children find when they need it most.
