Welcoming The Islamic New Year & Important Jumu'ah Parking Reminder

Assalamu alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,

Today marks the beginning of Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar. It is one of the four sacred months mentioned in the Qur'an, during which acts of worship are especially beloved to Allah (SWT) and the reward for good deeds is multiplied.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
"The best fast after the month of Ramadan is the fast of Allahs month of Muharram."
(Sahih Muslim)

We encourage everyone to take advantage of this blessed time by increasing in fasting, dhikr, prayer, and du'a. In particular, fasting on the Day of Ashura (10th of Muharram) carries immense reward. It is recommended to fast on the 9th and 10th, or the 10th and 11th of Muharram.

Let us begin this new Islamic year by renewing our intentions, drawing closer to Allah (SWT), and praying for a year full of guidance and blessings. Please also remember to make du'a for the success of our ISK Extension Project. May Allah (SWT) make it smooth and allow us to raise the funds needed to complete it, Ameen.

Jumu'ah Parking Reminder Please Plan Ahead

As a reminder, our masjid extension project is well underway, and the back parking lot remains fenced off and inaccessible. This phase of construction should be completed by August, inshaAllah, and will result in increased parking space for the community.

In the meantime, the following parking and transportation options are available, and we encourage community members to take advantage of them, especially since usage so far has been limited:

Carpooling
We encourage families and friends to arrive together in one vehicle when possible. Reducing the number of single-driver cars makes a big difference in easing parking congestion.

Free Shuttle Service from Cataraqui Arena
Shuttles are running every Friday from Cataraqui Arena (same location as Eid prayer):

First Jummah: 12:30 PM 1:40 PM
Second Jummah: 2:15 PM 2:45 PM
A 15-person mini-bus and at least two taxis are available during these times. Please consider parking at the arena and using this service.

On-Site Parking
Please follow the new one-way traffic flow and parking directions from Paladin Security when arriving and leaving. This helps us maximize use of the limited space we have on site.

If parking remains a challenge, please consider one of these other Jummah options in the city:

Important: This Friday is a PA Day
Many children and families will be attending Jumu'ah, so please plan ahead and allow extra time for parking and transportation.
