If your license has a star in a silhouette of Michigan, it is the new design and is REAL ID compliant and you don't need to get a new license.

Enhanced licenses and IDs are automatically REAL ID-compliant, regardless of whether they display the star.

They will read 'Enhanced Driving License' on the top.
