NEW / IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR THIS WEEK
Extension Project & Fundraising Update
Alhamdulillah, construction for the Masjid Extension Project is well underway, and with your continued support, we are steadily progressing toward our goal.
To provide an update, the total cost of the project, after factoring in anticipated HST rebates and securities deposits, is $2,849,325. So far, Alhamdulillah, we have already paid more than $256,000 and currently have an additional $1,911,647 in our account. This means the project has raised over $2,167,647 to date.
That leaves a current cost shortfall of approximately $681,678 for the remaining eight months of construction.
In recent weeks, our fundraising efforts have been strong, with approximately $45,000 raised, including over $15,000 from our July matching Jummah campaign alone. Alhamdulillah, the ISK Fundraising team has a clear and concrete plan to reach this goal through both local and national initiatives.
In line with this, we are excited to announce the launch of our global fundraising campaign on LaunchGood. This platform makes it easier than ever for family and friends around the world to contribute to our masjids extension project.
We are also rolling out a social media campaign to raise awareness and expand our reach. Please keep an eye out for our posts and stories in the coming days, and help us by sharing them widely, InshaAllah! You can find the donation link and social media channels at the bottom of this newsletter.

We encourage everyone to join us at our upcoming Quarterly Town Hall meeting on Saturday, July 26th, 2025, from 11 AM to 12 PM, InshaAllah. This will be a great opportunity to learn more about the project, ask questions, and stay connected with your masjids ongoing work.

Free Tech Class for Seniors
July 23, 2025**| 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM****| ISK Masjid, 1477 Sydenham Road**
The ISK Seniors Group is launching free Technology Literacy Classes to help seniors build digital skills and confidence using computers.
Classes will run every Monday and Wednesday starting Wednesday, July 23 until Wednesday, August 19, from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the ISK Centre.

ISK Summer Bazaar - Fundraising Event
August 10, 2025**| 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM****| ISK Masjid, 1477 Sydenham Road**
Join us for the ISK Summer Bazaar on Sunday, August 10th, from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm at the Islamic Society of Kingston. This free, family-friendly event will feature international food, desserts, crafts, henna, face painting, and more all while raising funds for the ISK Masjid Extension Project.

COMMUNITY WIDE OPPORTUNITIES
City of Kingston Committee Recruitment
The City of Kingston is currently recruiting community members to join two important groups:

Planning Advisory Committee: Advises on land use and planning matters. The City is seeking an Indigenous community representative and a Kingston West urban area representative.

Council Resourcing Review Working Group: Reviews the roles, responsibilities, and compensation of the Mayor and Council.
Applicants must be 18 or older, Canadian citizens or permanent residents, and have lived in Kingston for at least one year. The deadline to apply is July 25, 2025.

Kingston Police Fun Fair BBQ
You're invited to the 3rd Annual Community Fun Fair BBQ hosted by Kingston Police on Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 11 AM to 2 PM.
Enjoy a free BBQ, bouncy castles, face painting, obstacle courses, and demos from the Canine Unit, Emergency Response Unit, and more. Officer Blue will also be making an appearance.
Bring the whole family and a reusable water bottle, its a great way to connect with the wider community!
