as'salaamu alaykum,

The world is failing Sudan and its people.  Our IC community cannot be amongst those included in that failure.

The first time someone in our community reached out to me about needing help to evacuate their loved ones from their homeland of Sudan was so many months ago.  They stood in front of me in tears, saying that the violence had escalated so much that their aunts, uncles, baby cousins and more were on the verge of dying because of an absence of basic medicines and lack of food and clean water.  The hardest part of the conversation to hear was the question, "How come the world has forgotten Sudan?"

So many of our own community members have lost family members in the conflict that is taking place - may Allah grant them peace and raise them from the shuhada.  Ameen.

That many more have had to witness their family members leave their homes and evacuate in order to have some hope of surviving.

I'm reaching out to you this evening to ask that you help us provide food and clean water to our sisters and brothers, especially in this blessed month of Ramadan. You can make a zakat-eligible and tax-deductible contribution now at launchgood.com/SudanRelief to help feed our sisters and brothers.  Please share with others as well to encourage them to give.

We are working with the Sudanese American Physicians Association on this campaign and supporting the good work that they are doing on the ground in Sudan.

The need in Sudan is tragically severe:

  • Healthcare Infrastructure Collapse: The healthcare system has nearly collapsed, with over 80% of hospitals in conflict zones being non-functional, leaving countless individuals without access to essential medical care.

  • Displacement: Since April 2023, the war has left over 10.9 million people displaced and 30.4 million in urgent need of humanitarian assistance.

  • Food Insecurity: 25.6 million are facing food insecurity. Widespread malnutrition, disease outbreaks, and lack of medical supplies have left millions of our brothers and sisters in desperate need.

  • Water Scarcity: The destruction of infrastructure has led to a critical shortage of clean drinking water, increasing the risk of waterborne illnesses.
