Urgent: Ramadan Meals Needed For Homeless Migrant Children & Adults in NYC | Help Us Provide Suhoor & Iftar To Those In Need
as'salaamu alaykum,
Multiple organizations have reached out to the IC since Ramadan started asking if we can help provide suhoor and iftar to Muslim migrants and asylum seekers here in NYC. Some 230,000 migrants have come to New York in an influx that began in April 2022, and an estimated 45,000 are still in the citys care, with 350 new migrants coming in every week. Many of these are Muslims and all of them are people like you and I. They remain in the streets without any shelter, adequate clothing, and no food for iftar or suhoor. May Allah make things easy for them and make us from the best of their supporters at this time. Ameen.
I'm reaching out to you this evening to ask that you help us provide food to our sisters and brothers for their Ramadan meals. It's roughly between $5 and $6 per meal, suhoor or iftar, and something that many of us can afford to give. We're hoping to help provide 40,000 meals for suhoor and iftar and working with the Gambian Youth Org in the Bronx and Afrikana in Harlem to get it done inshallah. You can make a zakat-eligible and tax-deductible contribution now at LaunchGood.com/RamadanMeals4Migrants to help feed our sisters and brothers. Please share with others as well to encourage them to give.

The merits of helping someone break their fast are quite immense. Our hearts just have to remember who our teacher is, peace and blessings be upon him, and step up to help others in their time of need. The Prophet Muhammed, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
Whoever helps break the fast of a fasting person, he will have the same reward as him without decreasing anything from the reward of the fasting person.
In another hadith, the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, came to the home of Sad ibn Ubadah, may Allah be pleased with him, who presented him with bread and olive oil. The Prophet ate them and he said:
The fasting have broken their fast with you, the righteous have eaten your food, and the angels send blessings upon you.

Many of the masjids that are supporting our migrant sisters and brothers were already strapped financially prior to their assistance. Utility bills, water bills, and more are increasing as they are housing and feeding thousands of people. If you are interested in providing support in that regard, please let me know and I will connect you to non-profits that are working on that as well.
Please do give whatever you can today at LaunchGood.com/RamadanMeals4Migrants. Every bit will make a difference. Barakallahu feekum - may Allah bless you and your loved ones always, give to you only the best in this world and the best in the next, and accept from all of us in these blessed days and nights of Ramadan. Ameen.
