Join us on Saturday, May 18th for our last Coffee Morning before we break for the summer. Our topic is Muslim giving in America.

Muslims are obligated to pay Zakat to purify their wealth and encouraged to be charitable. Charitable efforts, or sadaqa can be monetary or non-monetary. Estimates indicate that Americas 3.45 million Muslims gave $4.2 billion in combined zakat and sadaqa. 

Charity is a catalyst for change. Islam encourages charity. And we live in one of the most charitable countries. In 2022, US giving was almost $500 billion. 

How do our Islamic values influence our giving? And how can we look at our charitable efforts in the broader frame of philanthropy?
