Update on Islamic Life Center (ILC) Construction

Dear Community Members,

We hope you are doing well. Over the past several months, we have been working behind the scenes to resolve issues related to the concrete work for the Islamic Life Center. We worked closely with the construction team to resolve the issues, while providing updates to the community over series of Town Hall during that period, but the issues did not resolve.

With the feedback from the community and consultations with people who have vertical construction experience we have taken the following significant steps:

1. Reconstituted the ILC Construction Committee (ICC):
   • The new construction committee is led by Br. Kashif Khan.
   •  The following are the members of the ICC: Kashif Khan (Chair), Nadeem Siddiki, Abu Bakr (Patrick Dillmann), Garmong Construction (hired consultant), and Ashhar Madni (BOD Liaison).
2. Transitioned from a Construction Management (CM) Model to a General Contractor (GC) Model:
   • The new Construction Committee solicited multiple bids from a few General Contractors for a complete transfer of responsibility over to a General Contractor, who would complete the construction up to Move In to Islamic Life Center.
   • With the assistance of vertical construction experts at Garmong Construction, the Construction Committee thoroughly reviewed these bids and selected a new General Contractor for ILC construction.
3. Signed a Contract with the New General Contractor:
   • Earlier this month, we finalized and signed a General Contractor contract with Wanas Group.
   • The construction site has now been transitioned over to Wanas Group.

In the coming weeks as weather conditions improve, Wanas Group in close collaboration with the Structural Engineer and the Architect of Record, and concrete and steel contractors has plans to resolve the concrete-related issues and resume erection of steel for the ILC.

To provide further updates with more details on ILC construction we have planned a town hall meeting at the Musallah on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at 2:00 PM after Dhuhr Salah. The members from the new ILC Construction Committee and the General Contractor will be in attendance to answer any ILC construction related questions. We strongly encourage all community members to attend.
