McKinney Islamic Association
Assalamu Alaikum, McKinney Islamic Association Community,
We are pleased to share that the Town Hall meeting with our neighbors, held on Saturday, August 17th, was a tremendous success, Alhamdulillah! The event provided an invaluable opportunity to engage in open dialogue about our plans for the new masjid, address concerns, and strengthen relationships with the surrounding community.
Event Highlights:
- Open and Constructive Dialogue: The gathering allowed us to present our vision for the new masjid, while carefully listening to the thoughts and concerns of our neighbors.
- Addressing Concerns: Key topics included traffic flow and parking, which were handled thoughtfully by our team, led by Br. Samad Syed, Br. Taha Khan, and Br. Amer Raheem. The transparent discussion fostered a spirit of cooperation.
- Building Bridges: Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with some expressing appreciation for the warm and welcoming environment. Comments like "The masjid team killed the hatred with love" and "We felt heard and appreciated the transparent conversation" highlight the positive tone of the meeting.
We were honored to have both Mayor George Fuller and City Council Member Dr. Ger Feltus speak at the event. Their participation underscored the importance of maintaining strong communication between our community and the city as we move forward with the project.
The event began with a breakfast featuring traditional chai and was attended by 45 neighbors along with several members of our community. Br. Samad Syed opened the session with a warm welcome, and our construction committee provided updates on our current plans and the next steps. Were grateful to Mayor George Fuller and Dr. Ger Feltus for their support in helping us organize this gathering and speaking at the town hall.
Special Thanks: Wed like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the following individuals from our community who worked tirelessly to ensure the success of this event: Sr Nabeela Cheema, Br. Asif Iqbal, Br. Hafeez Baig, Br. Mehdi Elifor, Br. Adil Ansari, Sr. Sana Ali, and Br. Yaser. Please remember them in your duas.
Overall, the feedback from the attendees was very encouraging, setting the stage for ongoing collaboration and mutual respect as we move forward with our project.
We look forward to continuing this dialogue and fostering a harmonious relationship with our neighbors as we work together toward realizing our vision for the new masjid.
Jazakum Allahu Khairan for your continued support and involvement,
McKinney Islamic Association Shura
