Fast six days of Shawwal
Jumuah Mubarak, dear brothers and sisters.
Ramadan has passed, but its impact should remain. The question is have we truly benefited from it?
Have our hearts softened in devotion, or have we quietly drifted back to our old ways? This is the moment to grade ourselves and see where our relationship is with Allah. Are you the same? Have I increased in love, exaltation, and fear of Allah?
Ramadan was not just an event in time; it was a training ground. It stripped away distractions, disciplined our nafs, and showed us what we are capable ofwhen we prioritize Allah above all else. But now, the real test begins. If we find ourselves unchanged, know, as Ustadh Tariq reminds us in his Eid khutbah, that there is still time.
Shaytan will whisper that without Ramadan, you cannot succeed. Do not believe him.
The Prophet taught us that themost beloved deeds to Allah are those done consistently, even if small (Sahih Bukhari). True success lies in sustaining what we started, carrying forward even a fraction of the devotion we cultivated in those sacred nights.
So ask yourself: What will I take with me? What habit will I commit todaily, weekly, or monthlyuntil the next Ramadan?
Begin with something simple yet deeply rewarding: fasting.
- Fast on Mondays and Thursdays to maintain the discipline of self-restraint.
- Fast on the White Days (13th, 14th, and 15th ofeach Islamic month) to keep the light of Ramadan alive.
- Fast six days of Shawwal, for the Prophet said it is as if one has fasted an entire year. (Sahih Muslim)
Ramadan was never meant to be the peak of our faithit was the foundation upon which we build. Let us move forward with intention, consistency, andsincerity, and may Allah accept our efforts and keep us steadfast.
