لقد خلقنا اللهُ سبحانه لعبادته، وأَوْجدنا في هذه الدنيا لتوحيده وطاعتهِ؛ ﴿وَمَا خَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَالْإِنْسَ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُونِ﴾ [الذاريات: 56] وقَرَنَ اللهُ تعالى توحيدَهُ بعملٍ عظيمٍ، وَخُلُقٍ كريمٍ، ألا وهو بِرُّ الوالدينِ، والإحسانُ إلى الأبوينِ، فكما أنَّ اللهَ سبحانه خلقنا وقدَّرَ أرزاقنا، جعلَ الوالدينِ سَبَباً لوجودنا، وَعَوْناً على رزقنا والقيامِ على شؤوننا؛ قال سبحانه: ﴿وَقَضَى رَبُّكَ أَلَّا تَعْبُدُوا إِلَّا إِيَّاهُ وَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِ إِحْسَانًا﴾ [الإسراء: 23].
