Asalaamu alaykum Dear MIC Family,
Two weeks ago today, I was sitting in one of the classrooms at MIC with our board of trustees. We were deep in conversation when a teacher walked in and said, Excuse me, the kids will be coming in soon for Sunday School.
I smiled. I was instantly brought back to 1991. I was just a kid when my dad picked me up from school one day. He and a few elders from our community had bought a burnt-down bar, yes, a bar, to make it into a masjid. Every day after school, we would go clean it up. When it was ready, we prayed, we sat for halaqas, and had family get togethers. Every Ramadan, someone would lead prayer. It wasnt fancy. But it was our place to build our identity, our future, and to deliver the experience of Islam to our neighbors.
Fast forward to today, and MIC is that place.
Its where our children are building their identity. Its where we invest in a future rooted in faith and belonging. And its where we open our doors to deliver the experience of
Islam not just in words, but through action, service, and presence.
But a building alone doesnt carry that legacy forward.
Thats where our work comes in.
MIC must be more than a beautiful space it must be a place where identity is shaped, where futures are nurtured, and where the experience of Islam is delivered with grace to all who walk through our doors.
That means ensuring our Sunday School isnt just functional, but formative. That our youth programs dont just gather kids, but grow leaders. That our operations and outreach
arent just organized, but inspired by ihsan.
The design of our space reflects vision. Now, our programs must reflect that same depth of purpose not to impress, but to please the One who sees all.
Allah is beautiful and loves beauty. (Muslim)

This Dhul Hijjah, these sacred days that Allah (SWT) swears by in the Quran, Im asking you to join me in that mission. Help us bring MICs operations and programs up to the same high standard as the structure that holds them. Support the heart of this community, not just its walls.
