Salam Charity is going around the nation presenting the lock and key of the Kaaba from the year 1309 Hijri along with other historical artifacts. Join us and benefit from the beautiful recitation of Qari Saif Khaled and learn more about these artifacts from Br. Abdullah Azab. Qari Saif Khaled will also be at Isha tonight to lead prayer as well as recite Quran 15 minutes before jummah tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing you this weekend!
Starting this Friday January 24th, there will be activity rooms available for ages 12 & under located in the new phase of the building from 6:00PM - 9:30PM. Each room will have various activities such as legos, arts & crafts, movies, and a child care room.
All children ages 12 & under are required and must be checked into one of these rooms. There will be a check in desk available for parents to check their kids in. All kids must be picked up by 9:30PM from these rooms.
This aims to provide our community a safe, fun, and supervised environment for everyone.
Statement to Our Community
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,
We hope this message finds you and your families in the best of health and iman. Over the recent break and during the social limitations, the Memphis Islamic Center has been actively working to enhance our policies and procedures to better serve our community. We are pleased to share the following updates and initiatives:
Strengthened Policies and Training: Our board, staff, and volunteers have been recieving comprehensive training and are equipped with newly established policies, procedures, and guidelines. These measures are designed to ensure that our operations align with Islamic values and provide a safe, welcoming environment for everyone.
Increased Staffing and Security: Recognizing the needs of our community during high-traffic times, we are increasing our staffing on busy nights. This includes improved supervision, crowd control, facility access updates, and security personnel to create a safe and organized space for all attendees.
Facility Access: We are limiting indoor facility access to specific areas to enhance safety and ensure better supervision. The primary entry points will be at both ends of the North Hall, where the café area and community room are located. Please note that the South Hall and West Hall will remain closed for access.
Collaboration with Legal Experts: To ensure we are adhering to best practices, we are also working closely with legal professionals to establish more robust policies and procedures. This collaboration will help us create guidelines that align with both Islamic values and standards, ensuring transparency and accountability in all our operations.
Enhanced Friday Night Programs: We are excited to announce new programs on Friday nights tailored to serve multiple age groups. These activities will be supervised by dedicated staff, with special attention given to our younger community members, ensuring they have a safe and engaging experience. We plan to launch this initiative starting Friday January 24th, 2025 and plan to host it monthly or more frequently if the demand for it is there. The first event will be sponsored (future nights will have fees). Please look out for emails and announcements for more details.
Call for Community Support: We kindly ask for your help in ensuring that the MIC remains a welcoming and safe environment for everyone. This includes supervising your children, looking out for the well-being of others, and taking care of the masjid’s facilities. As per the new guidelines, any children under 12 must be with adult supervision and line-of-sight at all times. MIC will no longer permit young children to be left alone in buildings to roam freely due to safety. Together, we can foster an atmosphere of respect, unity, and care that benefits all members of our community.
We are deeply committed to continuously improving our services and ensuring the MIC remains a space of growth, unity, and safety for everyone.
