Exciting new updates right in time for Ramadan!
"He was intimately familiar with the ills that afflicted his people and possessed the insight to provide solutions that dealt with root causes rather than symptoms. Perhaps the greatest lesson we can take from him is his understanding of who "his people" were. It was not simply the Muslims."
In honor of Black History Month, we are re-releasing our article on the life and work of Imam Warith Deen Mohammed. Here we highlight his initiative, CRAID, or the Committee for the Removal of All Images of the Divine, which sought to remove racialized images of God from Christian churches in African American neighborhoods. His efforts demonstrate a deep commitment to his people, regardless of religion, and a belief that Islam provides answers to the spiritual ills of all people. His example of leadership and service remains a model for Muslim community building today.
Peace and blessings,
