Community Update Parking Plans, Rules, and Upholding Our Shared Responsibility

Dear Beloved MIA Community,
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,

We pray this message finds you and your families in the best of health and Iman.

Following our recent announcement regarding the parking situation at Tom Thumb and growing concerns about certain behaviors that pose a risk to the continuity and growth of our masjid, we are reaching out with a clear and unified plan to move forward together.

We deeply appreciate the cooperation of so many in our community who consistently reflect the values of respect, responsibility, and unity. At the same time, it is important to acknowledge that repeated violations by a small number of individuals have threatened hard-earned parking privileges, strained our relationships with neighbors, and put our masjid at risk.

We must now act, lovingly, but firmly, to preserve the integrity and future of our masjid.

New & Improved Parking Plan:

Alhamdulillah, through continued outreach and goodwill, we have been able to restore our parking privilege at Tom Thumb Plaza and secure two more nearby options to serve our growing community:

Tom Thumb Plaza -  3150 S Hardin Blvd, McKinney, TX 75070

  • 70 designated parking spaces only

  • Refer to the attached Tom Thumb Parking Map for permitted areas.

Urban Air Parking Lot - 3150 S Hardin Blvd

  • Eldorado Pkwy & S. Hardin Blvd (SW corner)

  • 80 designated parking spaces only

  • Refer to the attached Urban Air Parking Map.

The LDS Church 2801 Eldorado Pkwy

  • 170 designated parking spaces

  • Shuttle service available from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM

  • Trip to the masjid takes approximately 4 minutes, the same as walking from Tom Thumb.

  • Refer to the attached LDS Church Parking Map.

Masjid Parking Lot - 2940 Eldorado Pkwy

  • 40 on-site parking spots

 Together, these locations provide 360 total parking spaces, including 190 within walking distance, more than ever before and, inshaAllah, sufficient for our Friday prayer needs.

Rules, Enforcement & Respectful Conduct:

To ensure continued access to these parking facilities, and to uphold the dignity of our masjid and community, the following steps have been taken:

  • All parking guidelines maps and the LDS Shuttle Schedule are attached for your reference.

  • A Live Parking Status Dashboard is now available at the top of the masjid website homepage so you can check availability at each location before arriving.

  • A police officer will be on-site every Friday from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM to ensure safety, manage traffic, and enforce parking and pedestrian rules.

  • A new towing service has been added in addition to the one at Hardin Village. Vehicles parked in violation will be towed at the owners expense .

  • Professional security personnel will monitor each lot and report violations in accordance with Section 30.05 of the Texas Penal Code.

  • Volunteers will be present at each parking location. They are there to assist and serve the community. Please:

    • Ask volunteers if unsure where to park 

    • Follow their instructions

    • Speak with kindness

    • Show gratitude and respect
      Any disrespect or confrontation will not be tolerated.

A Loving Reminder!

Our masjid is a shared blessing, a trust from Allah and a reflection of who we are. Every single one of us is responsible for protecting it.

We ask you to:

  • Follow the parking rules diligently

  • Remind others respectfully if they make violations

  • Stop and report repeated violations 

It takes only a few to cause harm, but it takes all of us to preserve what weve built.

Let us continue to represent the values of Islam through our actions: compassion, discipline, respect, and community spirit.

May Allah (SWT) protect our masjid, unite our hearts, and guide us all to be shining examples of faith, citizenship, and brotherhood.

  • One way trip duration: 4 minutes

  • Trip frequency: every 10 minutes
