SRVIC 2024 Year in Review
Assalamu Alaikum SRVIC community!
Alhamdulillah, we are pleased to share the following recap of 2024 events and programming which we would not be able to accomplish without your support. As highlighted at our Dec. 13th annual general meeting, were striving to make the center a better place for the entire community.
2024 Highlights
- Religious education
- Offered diverse speakers, khateebs, Quran classes, halaqas and dawah support
- Hosted events for youth, young professionals, adults, and seniors
- Served 350 Islamic school students
- Facility/operations
- Renovated 3,000+ sq ft courtyard for multipurpose use
- Completed interior painting for the entire 8,500 sq ft center
- Enhanced security for Jummah, Friday halaqas, family nights, and Islamic School
- Improved parking coordination for Jummah
- Updated all doors, CCTV, automated access control and LED lighting
- Installed new donation stations
- Financial overview
- Collected $500,000 in income from membership, Islamic school, Ramadan donations, and tenant rental income offset by approximately $450,000 in operational expenses
- Distributed over $250,000 in zakat
- Collected over $130,000 in sadaqa to support refugee resettlement efforts, domestic violence victims and faciliated burials; includes $22,150 collected during Ramadan Food Drive for Contra Costa County Food Bank
- Renewed tenant lease (2238 Camino Ramon) for 2025
- Technology/media
- Grew membership to over 400, a 50% increase year-over-year
- Expanded social media presence
- Grew newsletter subscriber base from 2,280 to 2,402
- Upgraded server hardware & software and improved online enrollment system for classes and events
- Community building/awareness
- Enhanced convert, outreach, and interfaith efforts
- Conducted dozens of contact visits and religious support for incarcerated individuals
- Hosted community duas and film viewings for Palestine
- Served hundreds of individuals through refugee relief program and bazaars
- Conducted service events including toy, blood, food and book drives
- Held senior monthly gatherings, sisters tea & talk, youth social events
2025 Goals
- Prioritize securing additional space for the growing community
- Increase sustaining and annual memberships
- Enhance core religious services, demographic-based programming, convert, interfaith, and civic engagement efforts
- Hire a part-time program coordinator to facilitate planning and programming efforts
- Designate volunteers for programs and committees
- Improve website and communications
- Improve internal systems and processes
The above represent some of the short-term and ongoing efforts to improve programming and services for the community. We are grateful for your ongoing support to help us accomplish these goals.
