Dont miss this special quarterly gathering that brings our community together for an evening of prayer, inspiration, and connection.
The program includes Maghreb prayer, Quran recitations, refreshments, childcare, and a balloon artist with face painting. We will have a special guest speaker Gail Kennard who will enlighten us on "Qur'anic Guidance on How to Respond to Injustice".

Gail Kennard is a proud African American Muslim and native Angeleno who converted to Islam over 40 years ago while in graduate school at UC Berkeley. She is an active member of the Islamic Center of Southern California and the Womens Mosque of America, where she has delivered talks and khutbahs since 2015.
Gail serves as president of Kennard Design Group (KDG), the oldest African Americanowned architectural firm in the western United States, founded in 1957 by her father, the late Robert Kennard, FAIA. She is currently authoring a biography about her fathers career, set to be released in 2025. In 2023, two of his landmark projectsthe City of Carson City Hall and the Watts Happening Cultural Centerreceived preservation planning grants as part of the Conserving Black Modernism initiative by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and the Getty Foundation.
A former journalist with United Press International and Time Magazine, Gail has also worked as a public information officer for the San Diego Historical Society and previously served on the Board of Advisors for the USC School of Architecture.
Since 2010, she has served on the City of Los Angeles Cultural Heritage Commission, where she is currently Vice President. In this role, she has championed the recognition and landmark designation of sites associated with women and historically underrepresented communities. She also serves on advisory committees for the African American Historic Places Los Angeles project and the African Americans in California initiative for the State of California Office of Historic Preservation.
A storyteller at heart, Gail Kennard continues to uplift narratives of resilience, community, and legacy through both her professional work and public service.
