Looking back at the last 6 months of 2024

State of the Community // Jan - Jun 2024
We hope this message finds you and your families in good health. We are delighted to share the latest updates from the first half of the year and spending on the Cordoba project with our esteemed SVIC community.
Grading Permit Application:
We submitted the grading permit application in March 2023 and received feedback from the county planner in August 2023. Responding promptly, we submitted our replies in December 2023. We received a second round of comments on May 20th, 2024. We are preparing to submit the replies to the county by the end of this month. We are pushing to receive these permits as soon as possible; however, the county, along with our architect and team of engineers, is taking longer than expected to respond.
Building Permits:
For the storage and maintenance building permit applied for in August 2023, we received comments in November 2023. Our architect is collaborating with engineers to formulate responses. The questions raised are similar to those in the grading permit comments. We will submit replies as soon as we are cleared from grading permits.
Irrigation System Installation:
We successfully raised funds for nearly 250 trees, and in November 2023, families planted a total of 220 trees. Currently, a team of volunteers, led by Br Shoaib, Br Wais, and Br Habeeb, are installing a sprinkler system to automate the watering process. In the meantime, SVIC volunteers are helping to keep watering the plants.
Events Organized by SVIC:
In the first half of the year, SVIC organized three major events (General Body Meeting, Eid Al-Fitr, and Eid Al-Adha) and four Iftar dinners. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Br Syed Azeez, head of the Event Management Committee, and his team of volunteers, who worked tirelessly to ensure everything ran smoothly. We encourage everyone to register as volunteers so we can all get involved.
Spending on Cordoba Project in Q1/Q2 2024:
Last year, we started providing a breakdown of our major expenses for the Cordoba Project and explained where we spent almost $260K. Continuing that tradition, below are the major expenses incurred in the first half of 2024, total of ~$60K:
