Morgan Hill 2 ACTION ITEMS:

  1. Send an Email to Morgan Hill City Council and ask them to add a cease-fire resolution to their agenda and then pass it. Below are the email addresses for all the MH City Council members, along with bullet points you can use to draft a personal email, please have your children send an email too.

  2. Attend the Morgan Hill City Council meeting on Wednesday, February 21 at 6pm, arrive no later than 5pm. We need as many people there to attend and make a public comment during the general comment time asking the council to add a cease-fire resolution to their agenda. Please complete a speaker's card also so they know you support a ceasefire getting added to their agenda.

(The opposition is planning to pack the main room & they are planning to arrive at 5pm so that there is no room for us in chambersat all where the council members will see us. For that reason we are asking our community to please show up at 5pm so that the city council members can visually see that there are more people supporting this resolution instead of the people who want the killings to continue.)

Points to include& add some statistics from below.

(Be sure to personalize it with your own words, so it does not look like it was generated through a computer mass email. Mention details like you have children have gone through Morgan Hill school, your family prays in MH weekly/Ramadan/all holidays etc)

1. This resolution will validate, acknowledge, and empathize with our community members here in MH who have been directly impacted by the horrific atrocities. Just like when someone is in a horrible car accident, the community supports them, they validate that it was a horrific experience, they empathize that it's heartbreaking. It lets our children know the city council does not approve of thousands of innocent children like them and civilians being indiscriminately killed.

2. This resolution will unite our community just as other MH resolutions have done in the past. The most recent example is the Stand United Against Hate resolution. Since that was passed there have held many positive community events with diverse community members gathering together to create a compassionate community. That resolution did not divide our community, nor did it create any hate. That resolution has been continuously bringing the community together in unity in amazing positive ways over the years now.

3. In April 2022 Morgan Hill City Council unanimously passed the Support for Ukraine Proclamation. That resolution acknowledged the pain and gave empathy to the MH community that was being impacted. Thecity council needs to show the same leadership and equity to pass a ceasefire resolution to support & give empathy to local Palestinian and Israeli families being directly impacted now locally. It also shows leadership to the thousands of children in MH that their city council leaders know how to empathize and do not agree with the killings of innocent civilians that they are watching through live streamed. International situations abroad do have very direct local impacts, and the council should not discriminatethat a Palestinianand Israeli life is less valuable than the Ukrainianlives that the council valued and supported in the past.

  • Yvonne Martnez Beltrn: [email protected]

  • Rene Spring: [email protected]( FYI Rene asked us to remove 'Palestinian hostages' and only wanted Israeli hostages written on resolution, we told Rene it must state 'immediate release of all Israeli and Palestinianhostages' and sent him Human Rights Watch link that describes nearly 7,000 Palestinianhostages currently being held by Israel. Rene emailed a replystating he 'could not support the resolution because "there are no Palestinian hostages." Feel free to let Rene know we are not ok with his selective humanity and discriminatoryvalue for some lives but not other lives regarding the hostages)
