The greatest blessing...
Jumuah Mubarak, dear brothers and sisters.
The Prophet the most beloved of Allah, the master of the children of Adam, the onewhose past and future shortcomings were forgivenstood in prayer through the depths of night until his blessed feet swelled. When asked why, he simply replied:
Should I not be a grateful servant?
(Bukhari and Muslim)
Even at the height of divine favor, he chose humility. Chose gratitude.
And what about us?
True imn teaches us to see blessings not only in ease, but in hardship too. When Allahgives, we say Alhamdulillah for the gift. And when He withholds, we say Alhamdulillah for the One who knows best.
Perhaps that sadness you feel is only possible because you once tasted joy. Perhaps the pain of loss is itself a sign that you once had something precious to cherish. In both, there is mercy. In both, there is a door tothankfulness.
A believer sees the shadow and still marvels at the sun that made it.
As Ustadh Tariq in his Eid Khutbah said, "the blessing is that we had the blessing in the first place."
We are surrounded by gifts we recognizeand countless more we may never know.Harms weve been protected from, trials quietly averted, ease written for us long before we ever asked. Allah, in His mercy, blesses us in ways seen and unseen.
And the greatest of all blessings?
Imn.
To know your Creator. To call upon Him. To believe in the unseen. To hope in His mercy. What treasure could be greater?
So whether in comfort or in trial, we are called to live in a state of shukrgrateful in every condition, content with His decree, and trusting in His wisdom.
For Hepromises:
If you are grateful, I will surely increase you.
(Surah Ibrahim 14:7)
May our hearts be softened, our tongues moistened with remembrance, and our lives beautified bygratitudejust as our Beloved showed us.
