📌 Seeking for a Live Liver Donation

Please help one of our long time community members who is need of an urgent liver transplant from a live donor.

SEEKING FOR A LIVE LIVER DONOR

Dear Community Members:
Assalam-o-Alaikum

A long-time community member urgently needs a live liver donor for a transplant at UT Southwestern. Liver donation is safe, and both donor and recipient livers regenerate to full size within two months. All donor medical expenses are covered by the recipients health insurance.
 

Basic Donor Criteria:

1. Blood Type: O positive or O negative

2. Age: 18-55 years

3. Health: Good overall health

4. Gender: Male or Female

5. Donor Questionnaire Link: UTSW Living Donor Screening

The recipient has advanced liver disease (PSC, stage 4) and does not qualify for a deceased donor transplant due to a low MELD score. A live donor is the only option. Despite finding five willing donors, none qualified.

Liver donation involves removing half the donors liver, which regenerates within 60 days for both donor and recipient. The process allows both to live normal, healthy lives, but many are unaware of this and hesitate to donate.
