First Day of Ramadan
Monday March 11th
First Taraweeh Prayer: Sunday, March 10
SRVIC follows the Islamic calendar adopted by the Fiqh Council of North America (FCNA), headed by Dr. Yasir Qadhi. It is based on calculations with Ittihadul-Mataali' concept, for the sake of global unity. FCNA decided to follow the fatwa of The European Council for Fatwa and Research (ECFR), issued by the late Dr. Yusuf Qaradawi which states that the sighting was not a requirement but just the means of ascertaining the beginning for a new month, and that is now attained by exact calculations. SRVIC Ramadan program details to follow.
