Join us for an engaging discussion on the significance of the Islamic Governance concept, exploring its unique qualities and defining principles. We will trace the evolution from the ideal era of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the Four Rightly Guided Caliphs to contemporary dynastic models. Our panel will address how to reconcile this ideal with todays realities and propose practical models that meet both Islamic principles and modern needs.

Dr. Mohamed AbuTaleb
Dr. Mohamed AbuTaleb serves as Dean of Administration at Boston Islamic Seminary and Senior Fellow at Yaqeen Institute for Islamic Research. Previously, he transitioned from a successful career in technology leadership at a Fortune 100 company to serve the community full-time at one of the largest Islamic centersh, serving as Imam, Religious Director, and Member of the Board for seven years. He completed his Ph.D. and Masters in Electrical Engineering from MIT, and Alimiyyah degree (License in Islamic Scholarship) from Al-Salam Institute.
Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar Al Shinqiti
Dr. Muhammad al-Mukhtar al-Shinqiti is a prominent Islamic scholar, author, and lecturer from Mauritania. He has made significant contributions to the fields of Islamic jurisprudence, theology, and spirituality and is widely respected within the Muslim world for his expertise and scholarship. He is known for his expertise in Islamic law, particularly in the areas of Islamic political thought and ethics; religious reform, and the sectarian history of Muslim societies.
Dr. Ovamir Anjum
Dr. Ovamir Anjum is the Imam Khattab Endowed Chair of Islamic Studies at the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at the University of Toledo. His work focuses on the nexus of theology, ethics, politics and law in Islam, with comparative interest in Western Thought. Trained as a historian, his work is essentially interdisciplinary, drawing on the fields of classical Islamic studies, political philosophy, and cultural anthropology.
Dr. Shahid Rafiq
Dr. Shahid Rafiq is the VP of Tarbiyah for ICNA National. Hes a pediatrician, khateeb, and frequent national speaker based out of Houston, TX.
