Islam Vs Modern Idols "-isms" & "-ologies"

Workshop Overview:

Historical Context of Ideologies: Delve into the history of major ideologies and intellectual movements (e.g., -isms and -ologies) that have shaped our individual, social, financial, and political realities as an Ummah.

Western Civilization: A Brief Overview: Understand the origins and relevance of Western civilization by exploring its history before and after the Renaissance, Reformation, and Enlightenment periods.

Power Shift and the Concept of Religion: Examine the transformation of power from the church to the nation-state and the creation of the modern category of religion.

Comparative Analysis of Beliefs: Analyze the Aqeedah (beliefs) and Usul (foundations) of secularism, philosophical liberalism (in its various forms), conservatism, socialism, Marxism, feminism, and the red-pill movement, and compare them to the Islamic framework.

Orientalism and Modernity: Explore Orientalism as a project of modernity and its impact on contemporary knowledge.

These modern ideologies emerged abruptly, like a storm, leading to diverse responses. While some saw them as avenues for progress and liberation, others viewed them with skepticism or rejected them outright, perceiving them as threats to traditional values and beliefs. This course will examine these varied responses and their implications for contemporary society.

Designed from a Quran-centered perspective, this course will not merely follow a philosophical approach but will strive to engage with these ideologies through an Islamic paradigm rooted in our epistemology.
