Resisting Hate with Hope: Watch the Mural Unveiling Replay
On July 21, 2025, theIslamic Center of Southern Californiahosted a powerful event that turned pain into purpose the unveiling of theSabr at Fajr mural, created by Palestinian-American artistSaj Issa, in collaboration withLA vs Hate,MPAC,CAIR-LA, and interfaith and civic leaders across Los Angeles. Rooted in the Arabic word for patience (sabr), the mural features a cactussymbolizing strength in harsh conditions with 5 cacti flowers representing the 5 pillars of Islamand was unveiled just months after a hate incident targeted the ICSC. But the event was not about that act of vandalismit was about what came next:a response of unity, resilience, and healing.
