To the Board of Directors and the Community of the Islamic Community Center of Tempe,
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,
It is with a deep sense of gratitude and humility that I formally submit my resignation as Chairman of the Islamic Community Center of Tempe. Serving this vibrant and resilient community has been one of the greatest honors of my life, and I leave this position with a heart full of appreciation and optimism for what lies ahead.
Over the course of my tenure, and with the help of dedicated board members, volunteers, and supporters, we have been able to achieve many significant milestones that I believe have strengthened our community and laid a solid foundation for future growth. Some of the accomplishments I am proud to have been a part of include:
- Securing new insurance coverage after our previous provider unexpectedly cancelled our policy.
- Managing the sudden involuntary closure of the ICC bank accounts by Chase Bank and successfully transitioning to a new financial institution.
- Started internet broadcast streaming to Facebook Live and YouTube of all Juma khutbahs and ICC special events
- Replacing the roof on the ICC commercial property, ensuring its longevity and functionality.
- Successfully renting the ICC commercial property to a new tenant, providing a steady source of income for our community center.
- Completing the security grant and installation of new cameras around the center, enhancing the safety of our community and facilities
- Rezoning the Al-Rahma Cemetery into a single 25-acre parcel, enhancing its long-term utility and significance.
- Accepting the generous donation from Momin Services of Arizona of the Chapman land adjacent to the cemetery, which will allow us to expand services and preserve our communitys legacy.
- Overseeing the remodeling of ICC apartments and walkways, improving safety and aesthetics.
- Hosting two successful Ramadan programs that brought our community together in spiritual reflection and unity.
- Organizing three Eid prayers at the Phoenix Convention Center, making space for thousands of community members to celebrate together.
- Successfully advocating for changes to a neighboring 29-story development to ensure our daily prayers remain undisturbed.
- Launching the Chandler Land Project, a bold initiative aimed at stimulating growth and engagement within our community.
- We are nearly finalizing three years of financial documents to transparently share profit and loss statements with our community.
These successes would not have been possible without the incredible support and dedication of our board, volunteers, and community members. I am proud of what we have accomplished together and confident that the momentum will continue under future leadership.
Although I am stepping down from this role, I remain deeply committed to the mission and values of our Center, and I will always be available to support and serve in any capacity needed.
May Allah (SWT) continue to bless our community, guide our leaders, and accept all our efforts in His cause.
