Verily, if the people see an oppressor and they do not seize his hand, then Allah will soon send punishment upon all of them.

This Weeks Actions:
This week, we mark Juneteenth, which celebrates the end of widespread enslavement of Black people in the US. It recognizes the struggle and perseverance of Black people in the US (of whom the indigenous Muslims in the US were largely comprised) against slavery. Juneteenth reminds us of injustices of the past, perseverance and striving, and injustices that continue against Black Americans that we must remedy. Did you know - per the 13th Amendment of the US Constitution, commonly referred to as the amendment abolishing slavery - that slavery can still be legally imposed when imposed as a punishment for a criminal conviction? This loophole to the ban on slavery is still used to enslave people today! This deeply violates our Islamic values and harms a group of people - people who are incarcerated - that is disproportionately Muslim and BIPOC. Learn more and express to decision-makers your opposition to this cruel and unjust loophole at EndTheException.com.
