Join us and experience what community should feel like!

salaam alaykum,

I hope you and your families are doing well, insh'Allah. I wanted to share some important announcements regarding the month of Ramadan and our programs at the Islamic Center.

Moonsighting\Crescent Update

For those who follow a local moonsighting opinion, the Moon-Sighting Committee of the Council of Shia Muslim Scholars of North America announces that Saturday, March 1st, 2025, will be the first day of the Holy Month of Ramadan, 1446 A.H. for the entire region of North America. This determination is based on the fact that there were verified sightings of the crescent moon by the naked eye at sunset on Friday, February 28th, 2025 in different regions of North America.

Your Continued Support

For more than 25 years, the IC has been providing free nightly iftars and an array of services to the entire community through the generous support of individuals like you.  This Ramadan, we are expecting to host 700 to 800 people at a minimum, with some nights likely having that many more. Our estimated cost per night this year is $9,400.

In addition, we have so many a unique volunteer experience that you can get involved in, plus contributing to our bake sale that will go toward supporting marginalized communities, details of which will ensue in the upcoming days.

Please see the links below and, of course, feel free to reach out with any questions.

Laylatul Qadr Programming

As the month of Ramadan has now been verified, for those who follow the Shia tradition, please note the following important dates:

  • Tuesday, March 18th; 19th Night of the Month of Ramadan
  • Thursday, March 20th; 21st Night of the Month of Ramadan
  • Saturday, March 22nd; 23rd Night of Month of Ramadan

Please see further communication regarding our Qadr night programming; which will include an all night prayer service on March 22nd.

The month of Ramadan is such an incredible time of blessing and unique opportunity. Insh'Allah we will be amongst the people who maximize the nights and days and reach out ultimate potential by bounty and grace that is present within it. I'll be praying for you and your families, and you please do the same for us here at the Islamic Center.
