Inshallah, Ramadan will start today (Friday Feb 28) after Maghrib (after sunset - the Hijri months start at sunsets). Which means fasting will start tomorrow (Saturday March 1st) after fajr (fajr Adhan is 6:05AM tomorrow). Eid-Al-Fitr will be on Sunday March 30th.Tarawih prayers will start today after Ishaa.

O you who believe! Observing As-Saum (the fasting) is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become Al-Muttaqun (the pious - see V. 2:2).

I'm pasting this here:Fasting is wajib (obligatory) for adult Muslims, except those who are ill, travelling, pregnant, diabetic or going through menstrual bleeding. Fasting from dawn until sunset Muslims refrain from consuming food, drinking liquids, smoking and sexual relations.Fasting for a Muslim means no eating, drinking or having sexual relations from the beginning of the time for the Fajr (morning) prayer until the beginning of the time for the Maghrib (sunset) prayer. In other words from the first light of dawn until sunset.

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said,May he be humbled, in whose presence I am mentioned and he does not send blessings upon me. May he be humbled, who enters the month ofRamadanand it passes before he is forgiven. May he be humbled, who lives to see his parents in their old age and he does not enter Paradise.

As we welcome the blessed month of Ramadan, the Islamic Center of Bloomington is excited to offer a variety of programs for youth and kids. Some events are open to everyone, while others require registration.

Halaqas during Ramadan

ICOB's usual halaqas will be paused during Ramadan. We will have short halaqa daily after Fajr. Sunday school will be from 12PM to 2PM. MSA Halaqas will be communicated through their channels. Youth group will run as usual. No Book Club.

WE ALWAYS WANT VOLUNTEERS TO HELP IN ALL THE ACTIVITIES THAT WE DO DURING RAMADAN. PLEASE DO REACH TO ANYONE IN THE EC COMMITTEE. WHEN YOU'RE AT THE MASJID, CLEAN YOUR PLACE, REMOVE YOUR PLATES, PARK WHERE YOU SHOULD PARK, HELP IN ANYWAY! SADAKA IS NOT ONLY ABOUT MONEY.

Abu Hurairah narrated that the Prophet (pbuh) said: Sadaqah is due on every joint of a person, every day the sun rises. Administering of justice between two men is also a sadaqah. And assisting a man to ride upon his beast, or helping him load his luggage upon it, is a sadaqah; and a good word is a sadaqah; and every step that you take towards prayer is a sadaqah, and removing of harmful things from the pathway is a sadaqah.
