Dr. Ilyas is an Assistant Professor of Hadith & Its Sciences at the Faculty of Islamic Studies and an Academic Advisor to the President of the International Islamic University Islamabad, Pakistan. He holds a B.A. (General), M.A. in Islamic Studies, and M.A. in Arabic from the University of Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan. Additionally, he earned an M.Phil. in Hadith & Its Sciences from the International Islamic University Islamabad and a Ph.D. in Islamic Studies with a specialization in Quran & Sunnah from the University of Karachi, Pakistan. Dr. Ilyas completed his post-doctorate at the Centre for Islamic Development Management Studies (ISDEV), School of Social Sciences, University of Science Malaysia, Penang.

As a Hafiz of the Quran and a respected scholar, Dr. Ilyas has represented the International Islamic University Islamabad on various national and international platforms. He is also a leading Imam and Khateeb at a mosque in Islamabad, Pakistan.
