Power restoration update: Partial Reopening - Friday, March 14

Alhamdulillah, after several tests and inspections, our facility was certified yesterday for occupancy using a generator.

Owing to some repair work that is still underway, please be mindful of the following constraints:

1. A significant portion of the entrance side of the parking lot will need to be used as a driveway only and not for parking (several spots are closed off with parking cones).

2. Please arrive in a state of wudu (ablution). The men’s washroom is under maintenance. (You may use the one in the Gym).

Owing to few other limitations only the following prayers will be offered in congregation at the Islamic Center:

Fajr, Zuher, Asr and Maghreb.

Until further notice, the following prayers will continue to be offered at the temporary off site venue - Best Furniture Outlet - 5700 W Saginaw Hwy.

Isha and Taraweeh prayers

Both Jummah prayers

The replacement electrical units and related parts have been partially delivered. Repair work is in-progress simultaneously.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

As you may be aware, we had an unexpected emergency at the Islamic Center which required shutting down power and closing our doors for a week, and we are now running on a generator until all the replacement equipment arrives and the problem is fixed. In the past year we had other significant maintenance expenses such as the sump pumps replacements, HVAC replacement in the Gym area etc.

Also earlier this year we completed the construction of the Community Center in the lower level of the school wing of the building. This space offers several amenities particularly for our sisters. This project was completed at a cost of $2million thanks to your generous donations, and money loaned from some individuals and from funds saved for designated projects.

We need your help to not only pay towards these debts, but also raise enough money to sustain ourselves this coming year. As part of our Annual Fundraising, we are hoping 1000 of us can donate $1000 each.

  • You can donate it monthly over the course of the year

  • Gather multiple community members to collectively come up with $1000.

  • Or try reaching out to your friends and relatives across the country to come up with $1000.

Join us in this noble effort insha Allah.
