Regarding Recent Events in Palestine
Nueces Mosque stands in deep solidarity with our sisters and brothers in Gaza and Palestine. We advocate for an immediate and permanent ceasefire to end Israeli hostilities in all of occupied Palestine and categorically condemn violence and killing of innocent civilians. We also extend our prayers and support to those grieving loved ones who have been martyred and subjected to unimaginable violence.
Islamic principles emphasize the worth of a human life and guide us to stand for justice for the oppressed. Unjustified violence and killing are categorically condemned in the Holy Quran: ...whoever takes a life unless as a punishment for murder or mischief in the land, it will be as if they killed all of humanity; and whoever saves a life, it will be as if they saved all of humanity. (5:32)
As Muslims and people who believe in justice, it is crucial to uphold our values through collective efforts such as the following:
- Pray for the oppressed as dua (prayer) is the strongest weapon of the believer
- Educate yourself and your community on the facts. For an educational reading list, visit palestinianyouthmovement.com/reading-list
- Participate in demonstrations led or supported by Palestinians
- Follow the Austin for Palestine Coalition, Palestinian Youth Movement, Students for Justice in Palestine, Palestine Solidarity Committee, American Muslims for Palestine, and other local Palestine-focused organizations to stay up to date on local actions
- Withdraw support for Israeli and international companies that profit from genocide in Palestine
- Contact your representatives to demand an end to genocide in Gaza
- Demand Austin City Council pass the Ceasefire Resolution
- Amplify efforts by raising awareness and sharing resources with your community
- Donate to relief organizations and charities such as: Baitulmaal, Palestine Childrens Relief Fund, Islamic Relief, Helping Hand for Relief and Development, Mercy Without Limits
May Allah (SWT) grant ease and comfort to the oppressed, in this world and the Hereafter. May He allow us to stand against injustice when we witness it. Ameen.
Action for Palestine: Push for a Ceasefire
As proud Austinites, we must use our privilege to advocate for peace and justice for our brothers and sisters in Palestine.

Austin's share of federal tax dollars to Israel every year is $14 million. Our money is supporting genocide in Gaza. Ceasefire IS a local issue
