This past week a few members of our Refugee Services team attended a 3-day Refugee Convening at IRUSA headquarters with other affiliates across the nation, reviewing the first year of resettlement by the IRUSA network. The gathering included a visit to the State Department and a meeting with PRM leadership. Dar Al-Hijrah is one of the largest IRUSA affiliates and has over 200 cases placed in the last 11 months, and expects a 60% increase in the next fiscal year.

OUTREACH
The work of outreach and govt affairs is to provide leadership, to advance the integration of faith, justice, and life in our Mosque and the larger community. One of the ways we seek to actualize this integrating vision and mission is through events such as Solidarity Cup of Teas with our neighbors and Interfaith Partners, Welcoming guests and Interfaith Communities for Dialogue during Ramadan at our Interfaith Iftars, and our annual open house, Taste of Islam; being mentors in Justice for Juniors, working with VOICE leaders on affordable housing and immigration reform;

The DAH Social Services Office is now a referring agency to the Northern VA Dental Clinic!
NVDC has six state-of-the-art dental suites and can provide extensive services including emergency interventions, tissue biopsies, root canals, dentures, crowns, and bridges.
Eligibility requirements apply.

SOULS
A mentorship program for youths ages 10 to 13 takes place every Friday at 8PM-10PM in the Youth Lounge. Students are placed in groups with two mentors per group. The semester consists of weekly lessons, mentor time, outings, mandatory service projects, and a graduation ceremony.
