Shall I inform you of something that holds a higher status than fasting, praying and giving charity? Making peace between people, for verily sowing dissension between people is indeed calamitous. [Reconciliation (Kitab Al-Adab) 42:4901]

GAZA NIGHT

Boycott Film Screening

& Panel Discussion

Join us for a thought-provoking panel discussion and screening of the film 'Boycott'. The film explores anti-BDS laws and related freedom of speech issues through the stories of a publisher, an attorney, and a pediatric speech pathologist. We will delve into the collective influence of boycotts, tackling anti-BDS laws in the workplace, and an Islamic perspective on calls to action.

This interactive session is designed to offer you a unique opportunity to engage and expand your knowledge on the topic and join the movement that seeks to challenge international support of Israeli apartheid and settler colonialism.

Panel Speakers include:

Bahia Amawi -  The Films Protagonist

Faizun Syed - Civil Rights Activist and former CAIR Director

Ziad Abunasrah - American Muslims for Palestine North Texas

Hasan Ali - President of Muslim American Society - Austin

Sheikh Atif - Imam NAMCC

Seize this opportunity to gain knowledge and make a difference.

When: January 20th, Saturday at 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Where: NAMCC Multipurpose room in person
What: Meet and Greet the Mental Health Professionals(Physicians, Psychiatrist, Psychologist) of Austin Community.
Why:

Assalamualaikum,

This program started as a service to our community during COVID 19 pandemic when our community families faced mental health issues like any other community. That was the day in November 2020 and today, we have conducted the mental health awareness sessions every single month on the third Saturday of the month since then Allhamdolillah.

100s of people have attended these sessions and 1000s of people have viewed the recorded sessions. On this momentous occasion, we would like to appreciate the good work of our Muslim Mental Health Professionals (Physicians, Psychiatrist, Psychologist) of our community who stood up at the time of crisis and continue to serve the community.

Let's celebrate this milestone and provide inputs for the future path of this program.

Agenda:

1. Dua
2. Introduction of panel
3. The experience of these professionals when dealing with our Muslim community members and common themes
4. Reflection on the past sessions and stories that evolved after attending these sessions
5. Community Questions
6. Direction of this program in future
7. Refreshments.
