Celebrating Awareness, Diversity & Service
Williamsville NY, Sunday, August 11, 2024: The Annual WNY Health Fair and Pakistan Independence Day 2024 event captured the essence of a day filled with unity, cultural pride, and community service. The event, set against the picturesque backdrop of Island Park, Williamsville, brought together health awareness, cultural celebration, and a sense of belonging. From the patriotic parade to the community service award ceremony and vibrant marketplace, every aspect highlighted the community's dedication to embracing diversity and fostering inclusivity.
The program officially began with a Quranic recitation, followed by acknowledgments from Professor Faizan Haq, Founding President, and Farina Mirza, Executive Director of WNYMuslims. They expressed gratitude to dedicated volunteers, generous sponsors, donors, and collaborators, including the Town of Amherst, Amherst Police Department, Village of Williamsville, New York State Executive Chamber, and Erie County Sheriffs Office. Their appreciation of these esteemed contributors underscored the leadership and commitment that have been crucial to the event's success. The days highlights, such as the array of vendors added diversity and flair. Attendees enjoyed indigenous cuisine, ethnic attire, traditional jewelry, henna artistry, and more, creating a lively marketplace that enriched the events cultural experience. The mounted horses (presented by the Chief of Community Services, Erie County Sheriffs Office), and the captivating performance by Saima Kashif, added layers of cultural richness and communal joy.
The emphasis on US-Pakistan friendship and the importance of health and well-being aligns with the broader goals of WNYMuslims and its partners. The appreciation expressed for volunteers, sponsors, and collaborators underscores the teamwork and collective effort that made the event possible.
