CAIR-CT hopes Muslim Heritage Month will inspire schools, libraries, and community organizations to celebrate and share the history, culture, and achievements of Muslims in Connecticut.

Br Khamis, our president of the Farmington Valley American Muslim Center, shared details about local events such as workshops, open houses, and interfaith dialogues that his community is conducting to educate the broader community.

"This proclamation is long overdue, and we extend our sincere gratitude to the Governor for its issuance. We pray that this proclamation will serve as a powerful catalyst in the ongoing fight against Islamophobia and all forms of bigotry and discrimination against minorities in our country". - Br Khamis

For more information, CAIR-CT has created a new website featuring resources about Muslim contributions and Islam that can be accessed by teachers and educators across the state. The website is available at https://cairconnecticut.com/muslim-heritage-month/

MUSLIM HERITAGE MONTH

January has been officially proclaimed as Muslim Heritage Month in Connecticut.

CAIR-CT successfully secured a proclamation from Governor Lamont recognizing January as Muslim Heritage Month in Connecticut.

A press conference was held with State Rep Maryam Khan, alongside leaders of the Muslim Community of CT to receive and say a few words about the significant milestone.

A WITNESS IN PALESTINE

Join us for Community Potluck

Local community members recently traveled to the Middle East to gain firsthand insight into the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and to contribute to relief efforts at a Gaza hospital

Dr. Deborah Weidner, a General and Child Psychiatrist, participated in a mental health mission at Nassir Hospital in Khan Yunis, Gaza Strip. In addition, members of the We Will Return organization visited Gaza children receiving medical care in hospitals in Egypt.

We invite you to join us for an evening where they will share their personal stories, provide an update on the ongoing war’s impact on Gaza, and discuss the profound effects on the local indigenous population.
