1st Friday of Ramadan. Alhamdulillah.
Jumuah Mubarak to our dear brothers and sisters.
Oh, what a blessing to be granted to witness Ramadan with its endless opportunities to embrace the sweet generous breezes of His mercy and forgiveness despite all our innumerable flaws! Alhamdulillah we've come upon the first blessed Jumuah ofRamadan. Blessing after blessing.
The Qur'an reminds us, "If you tried to count Allahs blessings, you would never be able to number them" (16:18).
When's the last time that you have shown gratitude for the very air you breathe, for your eyes, for the earth beneath your feet, for the sky holding firm above you, for the sun to give you warmth...?
Indeed, the blessings bestowed upon us by the Most Merciful are as vast as they are numerous, each one a testament to His infinite grace.
Who else but our Merciful Creator persistently reminds you that...
- you are not alone and He is closer to you than your jugular vein
- He hears and knows you - all that lies within the depths of your heart
- even when you make mistakes Hewill forgive again and again
- He will reward you for the tiniest of actions
- He will never abandon or betray you
- Even if you were to turn away from Him, He is always there waiting for your return
- He wants what is best for you
This is the month that we come to Him in all our brokenness out of the darkness of our many shortcomings.
In His infinite mercy, Allah the Exalted has given us the gift of Ramadan whose beginning is mercy, whose middle is forgiveness and its end liberation from the Hellfire. He is giving us the means to erase our past, to elevate ourselves, to escape the loneliness and poverty of our souls.
All to return to Him. To where we truly belong.
What more can we ask for from the Most Merciful, the Most Generous who gives and gives?
So, "seeker of good, come near" (Tirmidhi). Strive and sacrifice, remembering that all blessings come solely from Him.
Look no further than the moment of iftarthe breaking of our fasts.
- How fervently we offer our supplications, confident that He will heed ourcalls.
- How sweetly satisfying is the date that crosses our lips.
- How refreshing is the water that quenches our thirst.
Do you feel the waves of gratitude washing over you in those precious moments?
"And give thanks to Allah if you truly worship Him__"
Quran 2:172
