Jumuah Mubarak
First Day of Dhul Hijjah is Saturday
The M.E.C.C.A. Center follows the position of the four schools of Sunni Islam that adhere to the Blessed Sunnah that requires the physical sighting of the crescent moon to determine the beginning of every month. All reports in North America were negative last night. As such, we will be observing 30 days of Dhul Qadah and will be starting the month of Dhul Hijjah this evening. The first day ofDhul Hijjah will be Saturday.
However, you are more than welcome to follow your local mosque's calendar as some are observing the first day of Dhul Hijjah as being today.
Jumuah Mubarak to our dearbrothers and sisters!
May this blessed day bring you unparalleled peace, abundant blessings, and renewed strength in your faith.
In the hustle and bustle of our lives, it is all too easy to lose sight of our purpose and become ensnared by the distractions of this world. However, the sacred days of Dhul Hijjah offer us abeautiful opportunity to reconnect with our Creator and realign our hearts and souls toward true submission.
Just like the blessed month of Ramadan, these days call us to sacrificegiving up lowly desires, pushing ourselves harder, and diving deeply into ibadah (acts of worship).
The inspiring story ofHajar.
Abandoned by the divine command of Allah the Exalted, she neither protested nor despaired. What kept her so steadfast in the desert devoid of life with sand as far as the eye could see?
Hajar ran tirelessly between the barren hills of Safa andMarwa in search of water for her infant son, Prophet Ismail (peace be upon him), and she did so with unwavering devotion and trust in Allah Almighty that He would provide. And He did by commanding the life-giving spring of Zamzam to emerge from the arid desert.
This remarkable act reminds us that even in our most desperate moments, Allah the Exalted is always there - listening, seeing, and all-knowing ofwhatever lies in our hearts - and not even a leaf falls without His decree. So what should you do? Trust and rely upon Ar-Razzaq (The Provider). For He is the One who brought you to it and He will bring you through it.
These days are precious.
No other time in the year allows us to fulfill all five pillars of Islam (shahadah, prayer, hajj, zakat, and fasting) as perfectly as in Dhul Hijjah!
The sacrifices made during Dhul Hijjah are not limited to the rituals of hajj or the sacrificial offering (qurbani/udhiya). They extend far beyond, reaching into the depths of our intentions and actions. It is about relinquishing our egos, our selfish desires, and negative habits, and aligning ourselves with the divine purpose that lies within us.
Are we sacrificing our time and energy for worldly pursuits that fade away, or are we investing in the eternal rewards of the Hereafter?
This is an invitation to diveinto the depths of your soul and devote your time to deep worship with resolute trust in the Most Merciful.
If you have been yearning for the spirit of Ramadan and the enrichment and strength it brought to your iman (faith), then do not miss out on capitalizing on the many rewards of these beautiful tendays.
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said,
No good deeds can be done at a time
better than these first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah**.**
