Jumuah Mubarak to our dearbrothers and sisters!
Ramadan was a gift. It was the means to nurture taqwa (God consciousness) within us and in our outward actions. You might think Ramadan was the difficult part of the year because you were consumed in acts of ibadah (worship) with a ferocity and zeal like never before.
No, it wassimply the training ground. We attained contentment because of the balance in both our inner and outer selves. We learned to leave behind those things that didn't serve Allah Almighty. We unwinded the tight hold that our nafs (lower self) had on this tempting dunya (worldly life).
What comes after Ramadan is the true test. These next 11 months will be trying on you, but we have the means alreadyinside us. Let's keep moving forward. This is not a return to our lives before Ramadan.
Don't give into the feeling of defeat and negativity thinking that without Ramadan we cannot succeed. But that's Shaytan talking. That's his waswasa (whispers) climbing into your ears to prick your nafs into submission. Don't indulge him.
Don't give up and don'tdespair.
"Verily, Allah will not give up on you unless you give up.
Ibn Majah 4241
Remember also that the Prophet urged us to be moderate in our worship and thatthe most beloved of actions to the Most Merciful are those that we do consistently even if a few [Sahih Bukhari 6465].
So reflect deeply on what deeds you can do everyday, every week, or every month until the next Ramadan in shaa Allah. The possibilities are truly endless.
One such good deed is to continue with ahabit of fasting especially as we have been accustomed to it in Ramadan.
- Try to fast on Mondays and Thursdays every week
- Fast on the white days (13th, 14th, and 15th) of every Islamic month
- Do 6 days of fasting in Shawwal as it would be equal to a year'sworth of fasting in addition to the 30 days of Ramadan [Sahih Muslim 1164]
Sadaqa on Jumuah
M.E.C.C.A. uniquely serves a critical need of providing authentic knowledge of Islam to all who humbly and sincerely seek it, to those who are isolated and have to hide their new faith from others, and to those who don't have the right support andresources to turn to. Be the reason for someone's hope and conviction in Islam.
Your contributionspossess the potential to profoundly transform lives, guiding many towards a closer relationship with Allah. Every donation, no matter its size, holds significant value and can make a difference.
As our beloved Prophet reminds us, the best day to give sadaqa is Friday.
Let your gift of charity bless you with the best in this life and the next. Ameen.
