Khutbah at 1pm
Jumuah Mubarak to our dearbrothers and sisters!
Join us as we rediscover the beautiful pearls of wisdoms from our Ramadan programming in our Jumuah emails starting with Ustadh Tariq's Softening the Heart and implement its lessons in our lives.
Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, said:
A time will come uponthe people when the worry of one of them will be his belly, but he wont give his religion a second thought.
Ibn Ab d-Duny in J 218
Ustadh Tariq reminds us that food should not be our primary concern; rather, our focus should be on our relationship with Allah the Exalted. Emerging froma month of fasting from food and drink during Ramadan, we understand that fasting is not merely abstinence but a spiritual journey towards attaining taqwanearness to Allah.
This is our ultimate goal and how we should contemplate our actions: Are we people of Allah or people of dunya (worldly life)?
When our hearts are connected to Allah, we view the dunya as a temporary phase, a means rather than an end. We understand that true success lies not in accumulating wealth or status but in nurturing our relationship with our Creator.
The dunya doesn't affect us because our hearts are not connected to it.
If we receive worldly blessings and abundance, we humbly say "Alhamdulillah." If we face hardships and poverty in the dunya, we also say "Alhamdulillah," knowing our ultimate reward is with Allah.
Imam Al-Ghazali, a revered Islamic scholar, reminds us that the first bid'ah (innovation) is the love of this world. This love can distract us from our ultimate purpose and lead us away from thepath of righteousness.
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, By Allah, it is not poverty that I fear for you, but rather I fear you will be given the wealth of the world, just as it was given to those before you. You will compete for it just as they competed for it, and it will ruin you just as it ruined them.
