Jumuah Mubarak
First Day of Eid is Monday
The M.E.C.C.A. Center follows the position of the four schools of Sunni Islam that adhere to the Blessed Sunnah that requires the physical sighting of the crescent moon to determine the beginning of every month. As such, the first day of Dhul Hijjahbegan on June 8th and Eid ul Adha will arrive on Monday.
However, you are more than welcome to follow your local mosque's calendar as some are observing Eid on Sunday.
Jumuah Mubarak to our dearbrothers and sisters! May this blessed day bring you unparalleled peace, abundant blessings, and renewed strength in your faith.
As these ten blessed days of Dhul Hijjah draw to a close, we will be graced with a day known to have no equal in the sight of our Creator - The Day of Arafat.
"No day is better to Allah than the day of Arafat." [Sahih Ibn Hibban 3853]
And what is the magnificence of this day?
"Allah descends to the lowest heaven and He boasts to the inhabitants of the heavens about the inhabitants of the earth, saying: Look at My servants, appearing disheveled and dusty. They came from every mountain pass hoping for My mercy. They do not see My punishment, yet they do not see that on no day are more saved from Hellfire than the dayof Arafat__."
Sahih Ibn Hibban 3853
Ibadah (worship) Recommendations
For those of us not on hajj, you canstill take advantage of this day to beseech Allah the Exalted for forgiveness and mercy echoing the pleas of those on the hills of Arafat.
Busy your limbs, tongue, and heart with deep worship.
Send salawat (salutations) to the Beloved Prophet, peace and blessings be uponhim
Listen, read, and recite the Qur'an
Make your tongue moist with dhikr (remembrances of Allah). Muwasala has compiled a list here.
Do much du'a (supplication) calling out to Al Mujeeb, the One who Answers, for all your needs. The Prophet has said that "the best supplication is that which is made on the day of Arafat" [Tirmidhi 3585].
It is highlyencouraged to say the following prophetic du'a: There is no God but Allah alone, without any partners, unto Him belongs the dominion and all praise, and He has power over all things (La ilaha illAllahu wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu wa `ala kulli shayin qadir_)._
Fast on this day as the Prophet mentionedhow it would expunge the sins of the past year and the year to come [Sahih Muslim 1162].
We pray that Allah the Exalted grants us all the blessings of this day with the gift of eternal goodness in the Afterlife. Ameen.
