Repentance is your constant companion

Jumuah Mubarak to our dear brothers and sisters.

Many of us commenced Ramadan with fervent zeal, striving to immerse ourselves in acts of worship, charity, and righteous deeds, yearning to draw closer to our Creator. Yet, as the days have unfolded, some among us may find ourselves grappling withweariness, doubt, and the weight of self-imposed expectations.

The path of devotion was never promised to be devoid of challenges especially during Ramadan when we are faced against our nafs (self-ego). It is a path of trials and tribulations, a journey of peaks and valleys, designed to test our resilience in order to purify our souls and deepen our connection withHim.

It's all a means of returning to Him.

It's natural to feel the weight of our intentions and actions, but we must not let it drown us in despair.

It's not about the quantity of our deeds but their quality. It'sabout sincerity, dedication, and consistency. Even if our deeds are few, their consistency speaks volumes.

As the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said,

"The best of deeds are those done regularly, even if they are few."

Sunan Ibn Majah

Think of one deed that you can do consistently with sincere intention to please Allah and carry that through each day of the blessed month.

Also know that Allah isn't seeking perfection from us even if we do fall intosin.

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said,

By the One in whose hand is my soul, if you did not sin, Allah would replace you with people who would sin, and they would seek forgiveness from Allah and He would forgive them.

Sahih Muslim

We are in the middle 10 days of forgiveness. Ramadan affords us the opportunity to pause and reflect on how to train ourselves to leave off sins and bad habits, but repentance must be a constant companion throughout these days and nights. So do plenty of istighfar (seeking forgiveness) from the One who loves toforgive.

Ex. Astaghfirullah - I seek forgiveness in God.

Say, O Prophet, that Allah says, O My servants who have exceeded the limits against their souls! Do not lose hope in Allahs mercy, for Allah certainly forgives all sins.1 He is indeed the All-Forgiving,Most Merciful.

Quran 39:53

See how He calls you endearingly "My servants" and not sinners despite our shortcomings. He hasn't abandoned us but rather He is waiting for our return with abundant mercy.

So brushaway the whispers of doubt and turn with renewed vigor to the One whose mercy knows no bounds.

Grab our Ramadan planner to work on istighfar, Quran recitation, dhikr, and more. Provided for free to all those who RSVP for our Ramadan programming. RSVP here.
