Ramadan 2024

Tonight is the 23rd night and an odd one at that which makes it more likely to be Laylatul Qadr.

Praise be to Allah the Exalted, who has granted us the opportunity to witness such sacred nights, nights where our deeds are magnified beyond comprehension. A heartfelt prayer or a moment of sincere remembrance can earn rewards equal to those of over a 1000 months.

Particularly, the last third of the night is incredibly beneficial to the believer.

Here are 4 tips fromUstadh Meurad on how to maximize its blessings.

You can also watch the recording here.

Last 1/3 of the Night Practices

Take the time from Maghrib to Fajr and divide into thirds to calculate last third

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, Allah Almighty descends every night to the lowest heaven, and He says: Are there any asking that I may give them? Are there any seeking forgiveness that I may forgive them? This continues until the rise of dawn**.**Musnad Ahmad 16745

Dua

This is a time when du'a (supplication) is accepted and forgiveness and mercy given.

Don't be shy in your du'a, but ask for the greatest of things. Ask for Jannah (Paradise) without reckoning because He is the Most Generous.

Dhikr and Istighfar

Ustadh reminds us to do dhikr (remembrances of Allah) or istighfar (seeking forgiveness) abundantly, especially for sisters who are excused from prayer and fasting.

  • The best dhikr is La ilaha illAllah (There is no god but Allah). Try this video to help you recite.
  • A simple istighfar is Astaghfirullah (I seek forgiveness from Allah). Check out the master supplication for forgiveness that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, recited most often in our checklist here.

Tahajjud

You should also offer the voluntary night prayer just like the righteous would make a habit of. The minimum is 2 rakats (cycles of prayer) but ideally 8 is better.

Suhoor

Allah and His Angels bless the suhoor (pre-dawn meal) even if it is a sip of water so don't skip it!

Embrace these nights with open hearts and open hands.

Treat each night as if it could be Laylatul-Qadr and we ask you to give generouslyin these blessed nights.
