Jumuah Mubarak
With the sighting of the moon on Wednesday night, the sacred month of Muharram has begun, marking the start of the new Islamic year, 1447 AH. The first day of Muharram corresponds to Thursday, June 26th. The blessed day of shr, the 10th of Muharram, will fall on Saturday, July 5th.
With the arrival of Muharram, we are invited to step beyond the turning of the calendar into a sacred moment of renewala chance to revive our hearts, reshape our habits, and strengthen our bond with Allah. This holy time reminds us of our fragile beginnings and inevitable end, urging us to pause, confront our mortality, seek sincere repentance, and recommit to the path of truerighteousness.
Muharram carries a distinct honor. Our beloved Prophet called it the Month of Allaha title given to no other month. In that is a gentle but urgent invitation: return to Him, begin anew, and draw closer to the One who never tires of welcoming His servants.
Among all acts of worship,Allah has uniquely attributed fasting to Himself, saying, It is for Me, and I will reward it. [Bukhari and Muslim] Its reward is beyond measureknown only to Himmaking it especially suited to this sacred month.
After Ramadan, the Prophet fasted more in Muharram than in any other month. He especially encouraged fasting on the 10th, the Day of shr, saying: It will expiate the sins of thepast year. [Muslim 1162]
This is a season of longingfor Allah and for a life lived in closeness to Him.
The Prophet made a heartfelt du:
I ask You for Your love,
the love of those who love You,
and the love of deeds that bring me closer to Your love.
Tirmidhi 3235
Even a single actbe it a fast, a whispered dua, or a sincere return to prayercancarry the weight of mountains in the eyes of the Most Merciful. Allah, in His infinite kindness, sees beyond the deed itself and into the longing behind it.
So begin this year not with hesitation, but with hope.
For when you come to Him walking, He comes to you at speed.
Jumuah Mubarak.
