Please plan ahead to distribute your Zakat ul Fitr this year
On Zakat al Maal and Zakat al Fitr
Zakat ul Fitr - Farsi
Zakat ul Fitr - English
Zakat al Fitr is calculated at a rate of $15.00 per person within your household. For example, a married man with 2 children in his household will pay $60.00 Zakat al Fitr. These funds are then distributed to the poor and needy.
Ibn Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah enjoined Zakat al Fitr as a purification for the fasting person from idle and obscene speech, and to feed the poor. Whoever gives it before the prayer, it is Zakat al Fitr, and whoever gives it after the prayer, it is ordinary charity.
[Abu Dawood]
As always, Masjid Tawheed recommends that you DO NOT bring your Zakat al Maal or Zakat al Fitr (Sadaqa Fitr) to Masjid Tawheed for distribution.
Rather, it is recommended to distribute them first to your family members who are eligible to receive Zakat. If you do not have family members who are able to receive Zakat, then you may consider sending it to a recognized charity that accepts Zakat and distributes it to those who qualify for it.
Below is a list of suggested organizations that you may send your Zakat directly to.
Helping Hand for Relief and Development
ACWA Foundation
Sana Orphanage
Please note, Masjid al Tawheed does not endorse, nor has any influence on the charities listed above. These are mere suggestions for your reference and other organizations can be found by searching the internet or by contacting those who are familiar with these matters.
